Friendly, Enthusiastic Volunteers Needed – Front of House Team

We are St Neots Museum, a small but vibrant local museum telling the story of St Neots and its surrounding area. Operating from the former police station and magistrates’ court on the High Street, we rely on a dedicated team of volunteers to deliver a rewarding experience for our many visitors.

About the Volunteer Role

Join our Front of House Team with a commitment of just few hours per week or month—our approach is flexible, inclusive, and welcoming!

As a reception volunteer, you will be the friendly face of the museum, interacting with diverse visitors. Your shift may cover a morning or afternoon, and you will play a key role in ensuring a smooth and welcoming experience.

Typical Tasks Include:

  • Welcoming visitors, answering enquiries, and assisting with admissions
  • Handling cash and card transactions for museum entry, merchandise, and shop sales
  • Assisting with administrative duties – stock checking, pricing, and display updates
  • Promoting events, including walks, workshops, and escape rooms
  • Supporting families with children’s resources
  • Representing the museum at external events, such as the annual Living History Festival

A background in retail, banking, teaching, tourism, or museums would be beneficial, but not required. Full training will be provided—just bring enthusiasm, a friendly attitude, and a willingness to commit regularly.
