About the Role

University of the People (UoPeople) is seeking Volunteer Instructors for its Game Design Certificate Program.

Volunteer Roles & Opportunities

  • Mode: Online / Remote
  • Type: Volunteer
  • Reimbursement:
    • $450 for teaching one course
    • $900 for teaching two courses (Covers expenses for internet, subscriptions, materials, etc.)

Your contributions ensure affordable, quality, degree-granting education for globally diverse students.

Volunteer Instructors commit ~15 hours per week for a 9-week term, participating in:

  • Responding to emails and messages
  • Engaging via discussion forums
  • Grading assignments, forum posts
  • Teaching within the online learning management system
  • Managing culturally, politically, socio-economically, and religiously diverse students

Essential Responsibilities

  • Dedicate ~15 hours per week per course
  • Actively engage with students daily and respond promptly
  • Clearly communicate across diverse populations and with global UoPeople teams
  • Ensure course content aligns with learning outcomes
  • Teams with Office of Academic Operations/Academic Affairs as needed
  • Monitor & submit grades by deadlines
  • Model sensitivity to cultural/background diversity

Qualifications & Requirements

✅ Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Game Design, Game Development, or a related field
  • 3+ years of professional experience in Game Design
  • Demostrably master interactive digital game design, game evolution, and narrative-driven engagement

✔ Preferred:

  • Master’s degree in Game Design/Game Development or a related discipline
  • Prior online teaching experience (not mandatory)

📝 Proficiency:

  • Bilingual English (written & spoken)
