TYNE THEATRE PRODUCTIONS U25 VOLUNTARY SHADOW ROLES – APPLICATIONS NOW OPEN
Following the announcement of Tyne Theatre Productions’ 2027 amateur dramatic production of Annie, Tyne Theatre & Opera House is happy to announce the launch of its search for the Voluntary U25 Shadow Roles for 2026-27.

We offer this role as a stepping-stone to industry entry for young/new creatives. You do not need to have directed previously.

Purpose of Role
We are looking for a U25 Volunteer Shadow Director for Tyne Theatre Productions (TTP) amateur production of Annie which will be performed at the Tyne Theatre & Opera House (TTOH) during the week of 14 February 2027. This production of Annie will include cast members from Tyne Youth Company. This role is designed for someone to gain experience to support entry into the arts industry. You will support our Director by leading some principal or ensemble rehearsals, or parts of rehearsals as required, following detailed planning meetings.
The Applicants Should Ideally:
- be based in the Newcastle area
- be between 18- 25 yrs old
- be enrolled on or have completed a relevant course such as performing arts, tech, design
- be interested in understanding more about directing
- have good people skills
- be able to follow instructions
- be willing to commit to the production period

Purpose of Role
We are looking for a U25 Volunteer Shadow Choreographer for Tyne Theatre Productions (TTP) amateur production of Annie which will be performed at the Tyne Theatre & Opera House (TTOH) during the week of 14 February 2027. This production of Annie will include cast members from Tyne Youth Company. This role is designed for someone to gain experience to support entry into the arts industry. You will shadow our production Choreographer, gaining understanding into the role and their response to the artistic vision for Annie.
The Applicants Should Ideally:
- be based in the Newcastle area
- be between 18- 25 yrs old
- be enrolled on or have completed a relevant course such as performing arts, dance
- be looking to join the arts industry as a choreographer, dancer or artist
- have good people skills
- be able to follow instructions
- be willing to commit to the production period

Sept 2026 – February 2027
Purpose of Role
We are looking for a U25 Volunteer Shadow Musical Director for Tyne Theatre Productions (TTP) amateur production of Annie which will be performed at the Tyne Theatre & Opera House (TTOH) during the week of 14 February 2027. This production of Annie will include cast members from Tyne Youth Company. This role is designed for someone to gain experience to support entry into the arts industry. You will shadow our Music Director in our production rehearsals, potentially leading parts of Ensemble rehearsals or working with solo cast members as required.

The Applicants Should Ideally:
- be based in the Newcastle area
- be between 18- 25 yrs old
- be enrolled on or have completed a relevant course such as performing arts, music
- be a strong sheet music reader, and competent piano player
- be looking to join the industry as an artist, repetiteur or MD
- have experience in leading rehearsals and conducting groups
- have good people skills
- be able to follow instructions
- be willing to commit to the production period

- Monday 6 July: TTP Introduction Evening 6-9pm
- Saturday 18 July: TTP Auditions – 10am – 4pm
- Rehearsals from Wednesday 2 September
- Sunday 14 February: Get In/Tech
- Monday 15 February: Tech/Run – 6-9pm
- Tuesday 16 February: Full Dress Rehearsal – 6-9pm
- Wednesday 17 February to Saturday 20 February – Performances (incl matinees on Thursday 18, and Saturday 20 Feb)
