Company Description
Cornish Pirates Rugby Football Club, originally Penzance & Newlyn RFC, has been a central part of the local rugby community since its first match in 1945. The club competes in the second tier of English rugby, proudly representing the communities of Cornwall each week. Known for a distinctive style and brand of rugby, the Pirates reflect the individuality and passion of their supporters. Training and home matches take place at Mennaye Field in Penzance, creating a vibrant match-day environment. Volunteers play a key role in supporting the club’s operations and fan experience.
Role Description
The Volunteer Staff role is a full-time hybrid position based in Penzance, with some tasks able to be completed from home. Day-to-day responsibilities may include:
- Supporting match-day operations such as ticketing assistance, crowd guidance, and basic hospitality support.
- Helping with event setup and breakdown.
- Assisting with administrative tasks.
- Coordinating community engagement activities.
- Providing general support to club staff.

Off the field, volunteers may assist with administrative tasks, coordinating community engagement activities, and providing general support to club staff. Qualifications
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to engage respectfully and positively with supporters, players, and staff.
- Organizational and time-management skills, including reliability, punctuality, and the ability to handle multiple tasks on busy match days.
- Customer service mindset, with a focus on creating a welcoming experience and addressing queries or concerns in a calm, professional manner.
- Teamworking skills, including willingness to collaborate, take direction, and support colleagues across different club activities.
- Basic administrative skills, such as handling simple records, following procedures, and using email or standard office tools.
- Ability to stand, move around the ground, and assist with light physical tasks such as setting up signage, equipment, or event materials.
- Enthusiasm for rugby and local community sport, with a commitment to upholding the values and reputation of Cornish Pirates.
- Previous volunteering, event support, or hospitality experience is beneficial but not required; training will be provided.
