Organization: Black Mental Health Matters Inc. (BMHM) Location: Remote Commitment: 10–20 hours per week (Flexible) Reporting To: VP of Engineering / Executive Leadership

Black Mental Health Matters Inc. (BMHM) is a U.S.-based 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to advancing mental wellness, reducing stigma, and expanding access to culturally responsive mental health resources for Black communities worldwide.
Through technology, education, advocacy, research, and strategic partnerships, BMHM is building innovative digital solutions—including a mental health platform and mobile application—to improve access to care and empower individuals across the African diaspora.
Position Summary
We are seeking a passionate and motivated Volunteer Technical Recruiter to help build a world-class team of volunteer technology professionals committed to transforming mental healthcare through innovation.
In this role, you will:
- Identify, attract, screen, and onboard skilled volunteers
- Contribute to BMHM’s digital platforms, AI-powered mental health initiatives, mobile applications, and technology infrastructure
This position is ideal for an HR or talent acquisition professional eager to make a meaningful social impact.
Key Responsibilities
- Partner with engineering and executive leadership to assess current and future volunteer staffing needs
- Source and recruit technical volunteers for roles such as:
- Full-Stack Engineers
- Front-End Developers (React.js, TypeScript, Tailwind CSS)
- Back-End Developers (Node.js, Express.js)
- Mobile App Developers (React Native, Flutter)
- UI/UX Designers
- Product Managers
- AI/Machine Learning Engineers
- Data Engineers & Data Analysts
- DevOps & Cloud Engineers
- Cybersecurity Specialists
- QA/Test Engineers
- Technical Writers
- Post opportunities on:
- GitHub
- University career portals
- Volunteer platforms
- Social media channels
- Screen resumes and conduct initial interviews
- Coordinate interviews with engineering managers and project leads
- Maintain an organized candidate pipeline and volunteer database
- Build relationships with:
- Universities
- Coding boot camps
- Technology communities
- Professional associations
- Prioritize diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging (DEIB) in recruitment
- Support volunteer onboarding and orientation processes
- Recommend strategies for innovative recruitment and engagement

Qualifications
- Preferred: Experience in recruiting, talent acquisition, human resources, or volunteer management
- Basic understanding of software development and technical roles
- Strong communication, interviewing, and interpersonal skills
- Excellent organizational and time-management abilities
- Ability to work independently in remote environments
- Bonus: Familiarity with LinkedIn Recruiter, ATS, or Boolean search techniques
- Fervent passion for mental health advocacy, nonprofit work, and community impact
