Volunteer Role: English or Maths Tutor
Education in this country isn’t fair. If you are from a poorer socio-economic background, you are less likely to achieve academically than your peers.
As an English or maths volunteer, you will choose one of our partner schools and work with 1-3 pupils for an hour a week, across the course of 10-20 weeks. Sessions are either delivered on school premises or online, at the same time each week. You can choose to support children preparing for their SATs (ages 9–11) or GCSEs (ages 14–16).
You will receive:
- Training for tutors
- Tutoring workbooks
- A DBS check
- Travel expenses reimbursement (up to £5 per session)
About the Organisation

- Help them secure the grades needed for a bright future
Key Responsibilities
- Tutoring 1–3 pupils across different school years:
- Year 5 or 6 (SAT prep)
- Year 7, 10, or 11 (GCSE prep)
- Commit to one hour a week for up to 20 weeks
- Choose your own scheduling for maximum flexibility
- Use prepared tutor workbooks to guide sessions, focusing on confidence-building and grade improvement

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.
