Garden Centre Volunteer (Walled Garden) Location: Old Moat Garden Centre Horton Lane, Epsom, Surrey About Waythrough Waythrough provides specialist support across mental health, alcohol, drugs and related areas. We delivery high-quality, evidence-based services designed around the real needs of the people we serve. Every year, we support around 125,000 people through over 250 services - and it's all made possible by our 3,500 brilliant staff and volunteers. The Garden Centre Volunteer (Walled Garden) role involves supporting the Horticultural Trainers and Walled Garden ‘Lead Volunteer’ to effectively maintain and develop our Walled Garden, based in the Garden Centre grounds. The role may include working alongside people attending our wellbeing service who will be participating in the running of the Garden Centre as part of their recovery journey. Applicants should have a keen interest in horticulture and its potential to improve mental health as well as the ability to work and communicate well with a team of people with varying abilities. DUTIES Horticultural duties including planting, watering, weeding, pruning, propagation and maintenance of the vegetable beds. Optional grounds maintenance duties including sweeping, clearing paths, mowing, edging and compositing. Working alongside and supporting people using our wellbeing service, talking them through an activity or task and making them feel at ease. Taking part in relevant training as required. Ensuring high standards of tidiness and cleanliness. Ensuring Health & Safety regulations and procedures are adhered to (as per the Health & Safety Policy), reporting any issues to a Trainer/Manager.
