- Full-time: 37 hours per week
- Salary: £37,000 – £39,000 per annum

About the Role
Paddle UK is seeking an **innovative and collaborative Volunteer Manager to lead the development and implementation of its volunteer support strategy. Reporting into the Paddle UK Paddlesport department, this high-impact role will drive the creation and delivery of a volunteer action plan designed to encourage, support, and retain volunteers across all levels—from grassroots clubs to competitive paddling and international events.
Key Focus Areas in the First 12 Months
- Leading recruitment and implementation of 300 volunteers for the 2027 ICF Slalom World Cup
- Championing a culture of inclusion and diversity within the paddling community
- Aligning with national sporting priorities, collaborating with partners like Sport England, National Governing Bodies (NGBs), and Active Partnerships.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Delivery
- Develop and deliver a volunteer action plan in collaboration with Paddle UK’s departments and external partners.
- Embed volunteer support strategies that enhance recruitment, retention, and engagement.
Inclusion & Diversity
- Design initiatives to break down barriers and ensure people from all backgrounds feel welcome in volunteering.
- Champion cultural change through volunteer-tailored programmes that promote inclusivity.

About You
Key Traits & Qualifications
The ideal candidate will demonstrate:
- Collaborative Leadership: A proven ability to bridge gaps between teams and departments to build cohesive working groups.
- Skilled Communication: Exceptional verbal and written skills—with experience engaging diverse audiences, resolving conflicts diplomatically, and motivating teams.
- Strategic Insight: Ability to align organisational objectives with actionable plans while understanding interdependencies across departments.
- Analytical Thinking: Strong decision-making backed by evidence-based analysis, with an eye for data-driven evaluation.
- Qualifications & Mindset: Ideally, a degree or equivalent qualification in sport, volunteer management, or relevant fields. Passionate about sporting volunteering and project management, with a can-do attitude.
- Subject Knowledge: Understanding of paddlesport or broader grassroots/recreational sport environments. Experience in sporting delivery highly valued.
