PrototronixAI is an AI Consulting startup based in Sheffield, focused on advancing healthcare and engineering through innovative, intelligent technologies. We develop AI-driven solutions that support better outcomes in clinical and engineering settings, translating research into practical tools. We're building a small community of people who share our curiosity about AI in healthcare and robotics, and who want to get involved on their own terms.
Volunteering Opportunity: AI in Robotics & Healthcare
This is an informal, flexible volunteering opportunity - not a job, internship, or fixed position. There are no set hours, no required attendance, and no obligation to complete any particular piece of work. Volunteers choose which activities to get involved in, when it suits them, and can step back at any time without any consequence.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

Only hits
No noise. No "maybe this fits." Just roles with a clear explanation of why they're right — and where to focus when applying.
From time to time, we may have activities that volunteers are welcome to take part in, such as:
- Observing or contributing informally to AI/robotics research discussions
- Offering input on data annotation approaches or reviewing sample outputs
- Sharing feedback on prototypes or algorithm outputs, if and when interesting problems come up
- Joining occasional brainstorming or ideas sessions
- Learning about how an early-stage AI healthcare startup operates, informally, alongside the team
What this is not:
- Not a full-time or part-time commitment
- Not tied to any schedule, deadline, or deliverable
- Not a role you're expected to "show up" for - there's no rota and no sanction for not participating
- No promise of future paid employment (though we're always glad to know people who've enjoyed getting involved)
