VP Group Strategy
Barclays Vice President, Group Strategy
The ** Vice President** role provides independent and balanced advice and counsel to senior stakeholders through strategic problem-solving, decision-making, and transaction management. This position offers direct exposure to senior management and mentorship of junior talent within Barclays’ fast-paced business environment.
About the Role
The purpose of this Vice President role is to provide independent and balanced advice and counsel to senior stakeholders through:
- Problem identification
- Strategic analysis and decision making
The role acts as a key strategic advisor, driving business growth and supporting high-level transactions while fostering a culture of collaboration and continuous improvement.
Accountabilities: Strategic Advisory
As a Vice President in Barclays’ Group Strategy team, you will:
- Provide strategic advice to Group Executives and influence critical business decisions
- Collaborate with stakeholders to identify the appropriate strategic direction to meet the needs of Barclays’ clients and investors
- Lead development and implementation of financial models to support strategic recommendations, including:
- Financial data analysis
- Transaction impact assessments
- Manage transactions, including negotiation, structuring, and post-transaction integration
- Maintain and develop client relationships to identify new opportunities
Market & Competitive Intelligence
You will be responsible for:
- Identifying industry trends
- Conducting peer benchmarking
- Attending conferences, training, and market research to stay ahead of developments in strategic advisory services
Vice President Leadership & Development Responsibilities
If leading a team:
- Define job roles and responsibilities
- Plan resources, budgets, and policies
- Maintain and deliver continuous improvements
- Escalate any policy/procedure breaches
Your responsibilities will include:
- Counselling employees on performance benchmarks
- Contributing to compensation decisions/changes
- Aligning team strategies with both tactical and corporate priorities
- Balancing short-term and long-term goals while ensuring the company’s requirements are met
