The role
You'll deliver technology audits across a major transformation agenda covering platform modernisation, cloud adoption, engineering practices, data and analytics, operational resilience, and cyber risk. The work is end to end: reviewing and challenging delivery, making sure risks are understood and controlled, and giving senior stakeholders insight they can act on. This is a high profile part of the bank, so your work gets visibility with programme leadership and business heads from day one.
Why it's interesting
Merchant acquiring is one of the most active areas in payments right now, and this programme touches everything from legacy platform replacement to new engineering and data capability. You won't be auditing steady state. You'll be embedded in change as it happens, which is where audit careers accelerate. The team invests in development and there's a clear route to Director for people who build strong stakeholder relationships and deliver.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.
