VP Java Electronic Trading Engineer

Morgan McKinley has partnered with a premier global leader in digital assets and data center infrastructure. Operating at the intersection of institutional finance and cutting-edge technology, our client delivers next-generation products across trading, asset management, and high-performance computing. They blend deep crypto expertise with traditional institutional experience and are looking for elite engineering talent to join their London trading technology team.

The Role:

As a Vice President and Java Electronic Trading Engineer, you will design and build the next generation of server-side crypto trading systems. This is a high-visibility, high-impact role requiring deep domain expertise in electronic trading, low-latency architectures, and expert-level Core Java development.

What You’ll Do:

  • Develop robust, high-performance server-side Java trading systems.
  • Own and optimize critical components across order management systems (OMS), market connectivity, low-latency messaging, and price distribution.
  • Profile and optimize application performance down to the microsecond in a Linux environment.
  • Work independently, solving complex technical challenges with a strong desire to own issues through to resolution.

What We’re Looking For:

  • Experience: 10+ years of relevant development experience within an electronic trading environment.
  • Java Expertise: Exceptional Core Java skills with deep knowledge of concurrency and multithreaded programming.
  • Low Latency: Proven track record of developing low-latency pricing and trading systems in Linux.
  • Optimization: Strong background in application performance profiling and optimization.

Bonus Points:

  • eFX development experience within a low-latency, zero-GC environment.
  • Knowledge of institutional encodings and messaging protocols (e.g., FIX, SBE, Aeron, 29West).
  • Experience with fault-tolerant, high-availability distributed computing.
  • Familiarity with Docker, Kubernetes, or AWS.
  • Prior knowledge or a keen interest in cryptocurrency/digital assets.
