VP Loan Middle Office Manager
Location: London Working pattern: Hybrid – 2 days in the office / 3 days from home
The Opportunity Our client, a major international banking group with a strong corporate and investment banking platform across EMEA, is seeking a VP Loan Middle Office Manager to join its central Execution and Control function in London. This is a senior middle office role combining technical expertise, people management and stakeholder engagement. You will lead a specialist loan execution team responsible for the operational control, documentation review and booking of complex lending transactions across loans, while working closely with Front Office, Risk and Operations teams.
Role Overview As VP Loan Middle Office Manager, you will act as a senior operational subject matter expert with overall supervisory responsibility for the day-to-day activities of the execution team. You will ensure lending documentation is fully aligned with approved credit terms, all conditions are satisfied prior to funding, and transactions are executed in line with internal policy and regulatory requirements. The role also carries direct people management responsibility and deputises for the Team Manager, making it ideal for an experienced middle office professional looking to step into a broader leadership position within a global banking environment.

Key Responsibilities Lead and supervise the Loan Execution Control team, with direct line management responsibility for approximately 5–6 team members Provide operational oversight and approval of lending documentation, ensuring products meet booking and control requirements Ensure consistency between credit approvals and contractual documentation, avoiding policy or limit breaches Oversee satisfaction and approval of Conditions Precedent prior to funding and drawdown Manage daily workflow across key systems (including credit approval and loan booking platforms) to ensure deadlines are met Attend Front Office pipeline and deal meetings to track transaction progress and anticipate execution requirements Provide guidance on deal prioritisation, registration and escalation of time-critical transactions Mentor and develop team members, supporting structured development plans and knowledge sharing Collaborate with Front Office and wider Operations teams to resolve operational issues and document outcomes Actively contribute to change initiatives, process improvements and best-practice development
Skills, Experience & Background Experience & Knowledge Extensive experience within a banking or financial services environment, with strong exposure to syndicated loan markets In-depth knowledge of loan documentation Excellent understanding of Loan Market Association (LMA) documentation and market standards Strong grasp of the credit approval process and transaction lifecycle Proven experience managing or supervising staff, providing day-to-day guidance and performance development Strong awareness of key operational, credit and regulatory risks and associated control points Personal Attributes Confident leader with strong interpersonal and stakeholder management skills Highly organised, resilient and able to manage competing priorities Commercially minded with the ability to challenge constructively Collaborative, team-focused approach with a strong control mindset Demonstrates integrity, sound judgement and accountability
