The role
This company is building a surgical intelligence platform that turns medical imaging into real-time 3D guidance for surgeons. Their technology is already deployed in hospitals, supporting life-saving procedures and pushing the boundaries of what's possible in complex operations.
You'll step in as the technical successor to the founder, a neurosurgeon who built the original stack. This isn't a pure management role; you'll be the system architect across AI & Perception, Platform Software, Hardware, and QA, defining integration standards and API contracts. You'll balance immediate commercial priorities, like shipping an OEM-integrated SDK, with long-term R&D in areas like foundation models and sub-mm navigation. This is a rare seat: full technical ownership, from strategy to execution, in a regulated, safety-critical domain.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

No noise. No "maybe this fits." Just roles with a clear explanation of why they're right — and where to focus when applying.
The work
Define and own the technical architecture across AI/Perception, Platform Software, Hardware, and QA, setting integration standards and API contracts. Drive the immediate commercial priority: deliver an OEM-integrated SDK for a major scope manufacturer, unlocking critical partnerships. Balance short-term product delivery with long-term R&D, exploring foundation models and sub-millimeter navigation for future surgical applications. Scale the engineering team from 6 to 10-12 by year-end, building out a high-performing, cross-functional group. Navigate the regulatory landscape (FDA Class I/II, HIPAA, ISO 13485) to ensure product compliance and accelerate market access.
What You Bring
Direct, hands-on experience integrating software with real surgical or medical-grade hardware. Theoretical systems design is not enough. Proven ability to lead and scale an engineering team of 10+ across software, AI/ML, and ideally regulatory functions. Expertise in edge compute and GPUs (e.g., NVIDIA Jetson/AGX), optimizing real-time pipelines for ultra-low latency. Working fluency with regulated, safety-critical product development (FDA, HIPAA, ISO 13485). A builder's mindset: comfortable making architectural calls without a playbook, thriving in an early-stage, high-ownership environment.
