VP - Software Engineer

Vice President – Software Engineer (Java / Python / Go / AWS) | Manchester (Hybrid)

A Tier 1 bank is bringing its UK engineering in-house—and it needs senior engineers to lead the rebuild, not just contribute to it. With modern tooling, greenfield builds, and genuine autonomy over technical direction, this isn’t merely an upgrade: you’ll be untangling legacy estates, owning migration decisions, and setting the standard for how engineering is done at scale.

The Role

You’ll take a leading role in a full-stack team designed to outperform traditional models, working with Java on the backend, React on the frontend, and AWS as infrastructure. You won’t just deliver—you’ll own technical decisions across new builds and existing systems, shape architecture rather than inherit it, and collaborate directly with product, design, and senior stakeholders to define direction rather than just fulfil requirements.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
