Vice President / Senior Vice President - Leveraged Finance (Investment Bank) London, United Kingdom
A leading global financial institution is seeking an experienced Leveraged Finance professional to join its London-based team. This is an opportunity to play a key role in the origination, structuring, underwriting and execution of sponsor-backed leveraged finance transactions across Europe, working with leading private equity clients and portfolio companies. The successful candidate will be involved across the full deal lifecycle, from marketing and credit analysis through to execution, syndication and ongoing portfolio management.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the analysis, structuring and execution of large-cap leveraged buyout (LBO) financings and private credit/direct lending transactions.
- Prepare and present client marketing materials, investment committee papers, credit approval documents and financial analyses.
- Build and maintain detailed financial models, including sensitised downside and return case scenarios.
- Conduct industry, company and sponsor due diligence, identifying key risks and mitigants.
- Support origination efforts with private equity sponsors across Europe and contribute to the development of new client relationships.
- Negotiate financing terms, documentation and transaction structures alongside internal and external stakeholders.
- Partner closely with teams across Sponsor Coverage, Capital Markets, Credit Risk, Corporate Banking and Portfolio Management.
- Monitor existing portfolio positions, supporting asset performance, risk management and cross-sell opportunities.
- Mentor and develop junior team members while contributing to wider team strategy and growth initiatives.

Candidate Profile:
- Minimum 6 years' experience executing European sponsor-backed leveraged finance transactions.
- Strong background within an investment bank, commercial bank, direct lending platform, private credit fund or alternative credit manager.
- Proven experience analysing and structuring sub-investment-grade credit transactions.
- Advanced financial modelling and cash flow analysis capabilities.
- Strong understanding of leveraged loan, high-yield bond, private placement and broader acquisition financing markets.
- Demonstrated experience negotiating transaction documentation and commercial terms.
- Existing relationships across the private equity and leveraged finance ecosystem would be advantageous.
- Experience working on underwritten large-cap LBO transactions is highly desirable.

Requirements:
- Degree educated; CFA, ACA, MBA or equivalent professional qualification preferred.
- Excellent communication, presentation and stakeholder management skills.
- Strong commercial judgement and problem-solving ability.
- Ability to manage multiple transactions simultaneously in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
- Highly motivated, proactive and collaborative team player.
