Salary & Conditions
- Salary: £26,824 - £29,540 per annum
- Type: Permanent
- Hours: 37 per week (includes some weekends)
- Weekend shifts: Time & a half on Saturdays / double time on Sundays
- Location: Oakhurst Children’s Home, Mansfield, NG18 5AJ
- Work Pattern: Office-based with night shifts (9.45pm – 7.45am)
- Tier: Tier 7a Competency Framework

About the Role

Oakhurst Children’s Home delivers 24-hour specialist care to children and young people with complex needs. Your role will ensure their safety, comfort, and development after dark.

- 24/7 Overnight Support: Safely care for children during night shifts (9.45pm–7.45am) and assist them to prepare for the day ahead.
- Personalised Care: Adapt to individual needs, including challenging behaviours, with sensitivity and expertise.
- Collaborative Teamwork: Partner with colleagues to maintain a calm, structured, and fulfilling environment for each child.
- Safeguarding & Documentation: Ensure proper record-keeping and compliance with safeguarding policies.
- Professional Development: Engage in training opportunities to enhance your skills.
Essential Requirements
To excel in this role, you must have:
✔ 6+ months’ experience in childcare settings (e.g., residential childcare, fostering, school). ✔ Preferred:
- NVQ Level 3/Diploma in Residential Childcare (If unavailable, training is provided; qualification required.) ✔ A strong understanding of child development and the ability to tailor support to diverse needs.

Working Conditions & Benefits
- Shift structure: Focused overnight care with rest breaks (schedule shared teamwide).
- Competitive pay for weekend shifts (1.5x Saturday base rate, 2x Sunday base rate).
