Night Care Worker – Oakhurst Children’s Home
Role Overview
- Salary: £26,824 – £29,540 per annum
- Type: Permanent
- Work Pattern: Full-time (including weekends)
- Hours: 37 per week
- Location: Oakhurst Children’s Home, Mansfield (NG18 5AJ)

About the Role
Support young lives through the night. If you lead with kindness, resilience, and believe in making a lasting difference, Oakhurst Children’s Home is looking for a Night Care Worker to join their dedicated team.
As a specialist family-based home run by Nottinghamshire County Council, Oakhurst provides 24-hour care for children and young people needing stability and encouragement. Our strengths-based approach—known as "Our Nottinghamshire Approach"—guarantees a nurturing environment where every child can thrive.
You'll work alongside experienced, compassionate colleagues to create a safe, calm, and secure night-time setting for residents—supporting individual needs, particularly for those with complex behavioural challenges.

Key Responsibilities
- Provide high-quality night-time care and support to children and young people (9:45pm–7:45am) and assist with morning routines.
- Ensure safety, well-being, and security for all residents at all times.
- Respond to individual needs with empathy, including managing challenging behaviours.
- Collaborate with the team to uphold a compassionate and structured nurturing environment.
- Maintain accurate records and documentation as required.
- Engage in training and development opportunities to grow professionallly.

Essential Qualifications and Experience
Preferred Qualifications with National Union of Teachers agreed pay scales
- At least Six Months experience in a childcare setting.
- NVQ Level 3 or Diploma in Residential Childcare (or willingness to undertake during employment).
- Understanding of child development, including behavioural and emotional needs.

Working Conditions and Benefits
- Shift Pattern: Nights (9:45pm–7:45am) including weekends.
- Enhanced Pay:
- Time and a half salary (150%) for Saturdays.
- Double time pay (200%) for Sundays.
