Night Care Worker (Wake Night Worker)
Location: Oakhurst Children’s Home, Mansfield, NG18 5AJ Salary: £26,824 - £29,540 per annum Type: Permanent, Full-Time (including some weekends) Hours: 37 per week (shifts: 9:45PM – 7:45AM) Closing Date: 15 July 2026, 23:55 Interview Date: 20 July 2026

Support young lives through the night with Nottinghamshire County Council and Oakhurst Children’s Home. In this Nightcare Worker (Wake Night Worker) role, you’ll provide essential safety, comfort, and reassurance to children and young people who need stability, encouragement, and unique care.

Your Responsibilities
As a Wake Night Worker, you’ll contribute to a high-quality residential childcare experience, ensuring:
- High-quality overnight care and support for children and young people, helping them get ready for the day ahead.
- Safety and well-being is always prioritised; your vigilance protects the children entrusted to Oakhurst.
- Understanding and individual support, including handling challenging behaviours with empathy and skill.
- Collaborating with the team to create a nurturing, stable environment.
- Maintaining accurate records and documentation as required by safeguarding policies.
- Participating in training and professional development opportunities.

Requirements
Essential Experience & Qualifications
- At least 6 months of experience in a childcare setting.
- A NVQ Level 3/Diploma in Residential Childcare is preferred. If you don’t have this, you must be willing to undertake this qualification while in the role.

Working Arrangements & Benefits
Hours & Working Terms
- You’ll work shift-based overnight hours (9:45PM – 7:45AM).
- Enhanced pay for weekend working:
- Time and a half on Saturdays
- Double time on Sundays
