Waking Night Recovery Worker
Location: Abbots Bank, Friargate, Penrith, Cumbria (CA11 7XR)
Working Hours & Contract
- Hours: 3 nights per week (22:00–06:00)
- Weekly rota system covering a 7-day shift pattern
- Contract type: Permanent
- Salary: £25,877.80 – £30,868 (pro rata per annum), plus £500 annual increment for waking role
- Note: Starting salaries depend on experience and progression within the band

About the Role
Location: Abbots Bank (a 6-bed shared living service, registered with CQC)
- Staffed 24/7, with on-site waking night support
- Purpose: Provide in-home support for adults with mental health difficulties in the Eden area
- Focus: Assist clients in living independent and meaningful lives, exploring coping strategies and practical solutions

Key Responsibilities
This role is about inspiring and empowering individuals through personal recovery planning. You’ll:
- Collaborate with clients to develop personal support plans for tenancy maintenance, daily living independence, and financial/domestic skill-building
- Help clients access education, work, or leisure opportunities
- Apply flexible, person-centred approaches to recovery support
- Work both independently and as part of a team in a waking night rota system (including on-call duties)
Requirements
Full training will be provided, but ideally, you:
- Have a caring, compassionate nature and genuine empathy for others
- Welcome mental health awareness (lived experience is particularly valued)
- Are passionate about helping people achieve their goals
- Thrive under pressure, adapt to change, and connect effectively with diverse individuals
Essential attributes: ✔ Willingness to work on a rotating night rota and for on-call duties ✔ Ability to work independently and as part of a team ✔ Open to training in mental health recovery practices
Note: Previous experience is not essential, but enthusiasm and a supportive mindset are key.
