Ward Clerk Vacancy – Acute Respiratory Care Unit

About the Role

A vacancy has arisen for a dynamic and forward-thinking Ward Clerk on the Acute Respiratory Care Unit at Fairfield General Hospital.

This is a 40-bedded mixed-sex ward caring for patients under Respiratory, Medical, and ENT specialities. Operating in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment, we are looking for a Ward Clerk to provide exceptional administrative and clerical support to the medical and nursing teams.

The role is ideal for candidates with a proactive attitude, excellent organisational skills, and a desire to work efficiently in a busy healthcare setting.

Key Responsibilities

  • Welcoming patients and visitors to the ward
  • Answering the ward telephones, directing calls to medical and nursing staff, and ensuring clear, efficient communication
  • Filing medical notes and managing ward information systems, including leaflets and nursing documentation
  • Processing and utilising clinical systems, including:
    • Supply chain management
    • Patient Centre
    • E-Procurement
  • Providing organisational and clerical support to clinical teams

Requirements

  • Previous experience in an administrative/clerical healthcare role is desirable but not mandatory
  • Excellent organisational and time management skills
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Ability to multitask effectively in a fast-moving environment
  • Computing and clinical systems proficiency is a requirement
