Ward Clerk Vacancy – Acute Respiratory Care Unit
About the Role
A vacancy has arisen for a dynamic and forward-thinking Ward Clerk on the Acute Respiratory Care Unit at Fairfield General Hospital.
This is a 40-bedded mixed-sex ward caring for patients under Respiratory, Medical, and ENT specialities. Operating in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment, we are looking for a Ward Clerk to provide exceptional administrative and clerical support to the medical and nursing teams.
The role is ideal for candidates with a proactive attitude, excellent organisational skills, and a desire to work efficiently in a busy healthcare setting.
Key Responsibilities
- Welcoming patients and visitors to the ward
- Answering the ward telephones, directing calls to medical and nursing staff, and ensuring clear, efficient communication
- Filing medical notes and managing ward information systems, including leaflets and nursing documentation
- Processing and utilising clinical systems, including:
- Supply chain management
- Patient Centre
- E-Procurement
- Providing organisational and clerical support to clinical teams

Requirements
- Previous experience in an administrative/clerical healthcare role is desirable but not mandatory
- Excellent organisational and time management skills
- Strong attention to detail
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
- Ability to multitask effectively in a fast-moving environment
- Computing and clinical systems proficiency is a requirement
