Clerical Team Role – Forrester Brown Ward (Orthopaedic Trauma)
About the Role
We are seeking an enthusiastic and motivated individual to join our clerical team at Forrester Brown ward, a 24-bedded Orthopaedic Trauma unit.
Responsibilities
Core Duties
Duties include:
- Reception and clerical support to the ward unit
- Stores management
- General administrative duties
The role requires:
- Good IT skills (essential)
- Previous experience in a hospital setting would be desirable (but training provided)
- Strong communication skills
- Ability to work in a pressurised environment
Key tasks include:
- Welcome patients and relatives with friendliness and courtesy, providing clear information
- Direct patients/relatives to ward facilities
- Manage telephone enquiries, take/take action on messages in a helpful manner
- Liaise with nurses, doctors, GPs, and healthcare team to ensure quality patient care and information accuracy
- Maintain admissions books, inpatient boards, and patient records in the administration system
- Support nursing staff and multidisciplinary team in patient discharges
- Retrieve case notes, x-rays, and test results for admissions preparation
- Arrange follow-up appointments and patient transport as needed
- Coordinate ward equipment/facility maintenance and repairs

- Proficiency in multiple IT systems
- Verbal/written communication skills
- Organisational and methodical approach
Beneficial but not essential:
- Preference for candidates with NHS hospital experience
