Sandwell Metropolitan Borough Council,

Are you passionate about making a difference to people’s lives and communities in Sandwell? Do you want to be part of a team leading the way to create strong, resilient and vibrant neighbourhoods? Do you thrive on leading and shaping impactful projects and bringing people together to create lasting positive change? If so, we want you to join us.

The Role

At Sandwell Council we are excited to deliver our new Neighbourhood Working Model where we will focus on the issues and challenges faced within the Borough at a local neighbourhood level. Our new Neighbourhoods Services team is at the heart of this change and will drive forward this new way of working.

We are looking for people who are enthusiastic and committed to making a real difference to the lives of our residents and strive to deliver outstanding customer service.

As an effective problem-solver, you will work alongside a wide range of key partners, community groups and residents to find solutions for complex issues and make a positive impact on communities and people in Sandwell.

You will be responsible for the line management of the Neighbourhood Officers, supporting them to deliver a range of projects across Sandwell.

Our core focus is to be Member Led, Customer Focused and Officer Driven. This impacts all the work we do as a team, where we demonstrate our values and behaviours every day.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Provide a visible, hands-on presence and act as a vital point of contact for local businesses, local residents and the wider community to support their involvement in community ownership and promote local priorities.
  • Lead on delivering ward-based action plans and engagement, proactively supporting ward councillors in fulfilling their community leadership roles and allocating local funding.
  • Be prepared to work outside in all weathers. This role may involve some evening and weekend work to meet community needs.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
