Ward Hostess/Host – Join the Medirest Family

A new opportunity has arisen for a Ward Hostess/Host to join the Medirest Family. We are looking for new members to join our highly dedicated Patient Dining team, who deliver outstanding catering services.

About the Role

As a Ward Hostess/Host, you will provide a warm and welcoming environment for patients. Every day is different, and by facilitating patients’ nutrition and hydration needs, you can make a real difference!

A typical shift pattern involves some evening and weekend duties:

  • Mon & Tues: Standard shifts (shift pattern TBA)
  • Wed & Thu: Standard shifts (shift pattern TBA)
  • Fri: Standard shifts (shift pattern TBA)
  • Sat: Evenings
  • Sun: Evenings

  • Provide menus, take orders from patients, and support with all dietary and allergen queries.
  • Prepare and deliver refreshments and meals for breakfast, lunch, and dinner services.
  • Clear down ward areas, wash up dirty dishes, and ensure the kitchen is fully prepared for the next service.
  • Liaise with ward staff to ensure patients’ needs are met in a timely manner.
  • Offer great customer service by always putting the patient first.

Our Ideal Ward Hostess/Host Will

  • Have an awareness of food & hygiene standards.
  • Be passionate about patient care, with the ability to communicate effectively with patients, visitors, and healthcare staff.
  • Be able to work under pressure, individually, and as part of a team with a flexible approach to meet the needs of the business.
  • Be confident working in a hospital environment, including experiences with patients who may be particularly unwell or showing signs of distress.
  • No prior experience is necessary—what matters most is taking pride in what you do and a willingness to learn and go the extra mile for our patients.
