Ward Hostess/Host – Customer Service Role in Healthcare

Our Patient Dining team at Medirest is looking for dedicated individuals to join as a Ward Hostess/Host. This rewarding role ensures patients receive warm, welcoming service while meeting their nutrition and hydration needs daily.
About the Role
Ever-changing duties mean no two days are the same. As a Ward Hostess/Host, you’ll facilitate patient care through exceptional catering—making a real difference in someone’s experience.
Shift Patterns (Per Year, Contracted Basis):
- Monday to Thursday: TBC (Contracted weeks per year)
- Friday to Sunday: Afternoon shifts

Key Responsibilities
- Provide menus and take orders from patients
- Support with dietary and allergen enquiries
- Prepare and deliver breakfast, lunch, and dinner refreshments
- Clear ward areas, clean dishes, and prepare the kitchen for the next service
- Liaise with ward staff to ensure timely patient needs are met
- Deliver outstanding customer service, always prioritising patient care
Our Ideal Ward Hostess/Host
- Passionate about patient care with strong communication skills (patients, visitors, and healthcare staff)
- Food & hygiene standards awareness essential
- Ability to work under pressure—both independently and collaboratively—with adaptability
- Comfortable working in a hospital environment, including contact with unwell or distressed patients
- No prior experience necessary, but must have a work ethic, pride in duty, and eagerness to deliver exceptional service
- Subject to a Disclosure & Barring Service (DBS) check (employer cover)
