Please see below for detailed job description of the role.

Main duties of the job

As the Ward Leader for Outpatients, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the patient experience, leading service excellence, and driving continuous improvement across a busy and dynamic outpatient environment.

The Ward Leader is responsible for providing professional, clinical, and operational leadership to ensure the delivery of safe, effective, compassionate, and patient-centred care. As a visible and accessible leader, you will empower and support the multidisciplinary team to achieve the highest standards of care, fostering a culture of accountability, innovation, learning, and continuous improvement. By creating a positive and empowering working environment, the Ward Leader will support staff development, retention, and professional growth while ensuring patients receive timely, coordinated, and personalised care.

The post holder reports to the Matron and works in close partnership with Consultants, Clinical Service Managers, Operational Managers, Allied Health Professionals, Administrative Teams, and the wider multidisciplinary team. They will provide day-to-day leadership and management of nursing and support staff within the outpatient department, promoting collaboration, shared learning, and a collective commitment to delivering exceptional care and achieving organisational goals.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
