Ward Manager
Band 7 | Full Time – 37.5 hours per week
Palmeira Ward, Mill View Hospital | Brighton & Hove
£49,387 – £56,515 per annum

Who can apply
We're looking for:
- Registered Mental Health Nurses (RMNs) with:
- Significant experience in acute mental health services
- Experience leading and supervising clinical teams
- Strong communication and people management skills
- A passion for delivering high-quality, person-centred care
- The confidence to lead change and support service improvement

The role
As Ward Manager, you'll provide professional and operational leadership for Palmeira Ward, ensuring safe, compassionate and effective care while creating a positive culture for both patients and staff.
You'll:
- Lead and develop a multidisciplinary ward team
- Ensure high standards of clinical care, safety and governance
- Support staff development, supervision and performance management
- Promote least restrictive practice and recovery-focused care
- Oversee staffing, resources and operational performance
- Drive quality improvement and service development initiatives
- Foster a psychologically safe, supportive team culture
- Work closely with the wider Mill View leadership team
About the service
Palmeira Ward is a 13-bed acute mental health inpatient ward caring for adults 18–65 experiencing acute mental health needs.
Based within Mill View Hospital, the ward is part of a wider multidisciplinary service where collaboration, innovation and compassionate care underpin everything we do. Staff work closely together across wards, creating a culture where colleagues support one another and ideas for improvement are welcomed.

Location
Based at Mill View Hospital, Brighton & Hove, with excellent transport links and easy access to the Sussex coast and surrounding areas.
