Ward Manager – Surgical Ward - Leading Private Hospital

up to £50,000 pa
Full-Time, Permanent, 37.5 Hours per Week
Nottingham, Nottinghamshire

Overview

Compass Associates are proud to be working with an award-winning healthcare organisation who are currently recruiting for an experienced Ward Manager to lead their high-performing mixed Surgical Ward based in Nottingham. This leading private hospital delivers a wide range of specialist surgical services across Orthopaedics, Spinal, Gynaecology & Urology. This is an opportunity to be autonomous to manage change and continue to develop your team and provide the very best in terms of patient outcomes.

This is an excellent opportunity for a clinically credible and operationally strong nurse leader to take ownership of a busy surgical ward within a flagship hospital environment. The successful candidate will play a key role in driving clinical excellence, supporting workforce development and ensuring the delivery of outstanding patient care across a fast-paced surgical setting.

Responsibilities

  • Provide visible and effective leadership across the Surgical Ward
  • Take full operational responsibility for the day-to-day management of the department
  • Lead, motivate and develop a large multidisciplinary nursing team
  • Ensure safe staffing levels and effective workforce planning across the ward
  • Drive high standards of patient care, safety and clinical governance
  • Oversee patient flow, bed management and operational performance
  • Support recruitment, retention and staff development initiatives
  • Manage clinical incidents, audits and quality improvement projects
  • Work collaboratively with senior hospital leadership to support service development
  • Ensure compliance with CQC standards, policies and best practice guidelines

This is a busy and dynamic ward environment requiring a confident and resilient leader who can balance clinical oversight with operational management while maintaining exceptional patient outcomes.
