Job Title: Ward Manager – Discharge Ready Unit, Crane Ward

About the Role

The Discharge Ready Unit on Crane Ward is a 28-bedded unit dedicated to patients who are medically optimised for discharge but awaiting the implementation of appropriate community care packages to ensure a safe transition home or into nursing home care.

We do more than facilitate discharges

Beyond ensuring safe and timely reduction, the unit is committed to preventing patient deconditioning. This includes:

  • Daily exercise sessions led by a physiotherapist.
  • A variety of therapeutic and social activities, including board games, puzzles, arts and crafts, and supervised garden access.
  • Volunteer-led engagement activities, such as live music, dance, and visits from a therapy dog.

The neurocreative environment supports wellbeing and a holistic recovery journey.

The Opportunity

We are seeking an experienced and motivated professional to lead a multidisciplinary team focused on delivering high-quality care and achieving exceptional patient outcomes, all while contributing to the ongoing enhancement of the Discharge Ready Unit.

What We Offer

✔ A supportive, collaborative clinical environment ✔ Opportunities to shape and develop the unit’s future direction ✔ Strong focus on quality improvement and person-centred care ✔ The chance to work within a passionate, innovative healthcare service

If you are dedicated to improving care for disengaging patients and eager to contribute to this evolving speciality, we would love to hear from you.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
