Ward Manager
**Ward Manager – Low Secure Hospital (Purpose-Built Recovery & Support)
Location: Newark, Nottinghamshire
About the Role
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a committed Ward Manager to work in a purpose-built low-secure hospital within one of the UK’s leading healthcare providers.
The role is centred around a personalised recovery-based treatment model, featuring dedicated pathways for women with complex mental health needs, including a trauma-specific pathway.
This hospital specialises in:
- Personalised assessment and supportive treatment
- Trauma-informed care
Key Responsibilities
- Workforce & Duty Management
- Oversee safe staffing, skill mix reviews, workload allocation, and duty rotas
- Ensure the efficient deployment of nursing team resources
- Patient Care Coordination
- Facilititate timely admissions, discharges, and continuity of care
- incident Management
- Investigate wards complaints, untoward incidents, and safety concerns
- Compile and implement action plans
- Report incidents via the IR1 Reporting System
- Policy & Governance
- Review, update, and implement ward-specific policies, procedures, and guidelines
- Senior Clinical Support
- Provide oversight and clinical leadership during shift coverage
- Offer senior clinical advice across all hospital wards, ensuring seamless support

Required Qualifications & Experience
The role requires a qualified Registered Nurse (NMC-pin active).
Preferred Skills & Experience: ✅ 2+ years of senior experience in mental health settings ✅ Team leadership & operational management in a ward environment ✅ Proven track record in budget and resource allocation ✅ Knowledge of current nursing best practices ✅ Ongoing professional development commitment ✅ Strong leadership, people management capabilities ✅ Excellent verbal and written communication skills ✅ Ability to manage finite wards resources effectively
