Ward Manager – Cygnet Care, Cygnet Hospital Harrogate

We are looking for a professional, confident Ward Manager who can lead, inspire and oversee the delivery of the very best care.
This is a full-time role, working 38.5 hours per week, at Cygnet Hospital Harrogate – a long-established mental health hospital providing an emergency admissions service across two acute wards.
The service features:
- A multidisciplinary team (MDT), including:
- Consultant psychiatrists & doctors
- Therapy team (group & activities coordinators, nursing therapists)
- Access to a range of therapies
- Minimum 25 hours of therapy per week (individual & group)
- Collaborative approach with service users, families, and referrers to deliver a seamless pathway from referral to discharge

As a Ward Manager, your role will include:
- Delivering clinical leadership in an acute mental health setting
- Suggesting, proposing, and implementing recommendations for ward development
- Contributing to and participating in ward visits by professional visitors
- Monitoring & ensuring compliance with professional nursing standards, including:
- Pin numbers management
- Registration of all qualified staff
- Nursing threshold adherence
- Ensuring patient-centred evaluations of care delivery
- Advising non-clinical hospital staff on managing patients with mental illness
- Safeguarding patient confidentiality and aligning with:
- Cygnet Healthcare policies
- NMC/NMC standards
- Embedding customer recovery focus while monitoring, managing, and reducing risk
What We’re Looking For
A successful candidate will have:
- A commitment to delivering improvement strategies across all aspects of clinical service provision
- Experience working in an in-patient mental health setting
- Leadership & change management expertise, including:
- Driving initatives for staff development
- Motivating and inspiring teams
- Strong soft skills: openness, compassion, honesty, and resilience
- Audit proficiency, including:
- Developing, following up on, and ensuring action plan completion
- Expertise in Mental Health Act regulations and latest nursing practices
- A patient recovery-first approach
