As a Non-Food Maintenance Assistant Team Manager, you’ll play a critical role in ensuring our automated infrastructure remains operational. This position demands expertise in systems maintenance, leadership, and problem-solving. You’ll manage your team, maintain machinery, and drive efficiency while upholding safety standards.

Reporting to the Team Manager, you’ll be responsible for overseeing maintenance tasks on essential equipment—including conveyors, control systems, lifts, MHE (Material Handling Equipment), and compressors.


Key Responsibilities

  • Team Leadership & Mentorship

    • Line-manage a team of Warehouse Operatives, providing coaching and training to foster their development.
    • Champion motivational leadership, delegating tasks and driving performance.
  • Automated Systems Maintenance

    • Maintain, test, and repair machinery such as sortation systems, controllers, and conveyors.
    • Oversee daily, weekly, monthly (6-month, and yearly) system checks to ensure peak performance.
    • Continuously seek efficiency improvements in automation technology, contributing innovation ideas.

  • Safety & Compliance

    • Ensure strict adherence to safety regulations at all times. Report any violations or concerns.
    • Work closely with internal and external teams to maintain operational integrity.
  • Projects & External Coordination

    • Collaborate with on-call service providers and manage external maintenance work where necessary.
    • Support the Team Manager with operational overseeing, compliance tasks, and Head Office projects.
    • Manage tool and spare parts inventories, ensuring resources are available for smooth maintenance execution.

Requirements

To excel in this role, you must demonstrate:

  • A natural confidence in leadership and strong people skills, committed to driving team success.
  • Experience with automation systems, such as sorters, conveyors, and controllers.
  • A proactive attitude towards maintaining and enhancing automated processes.
  • Flexibility, willingness to work shifts and cover on-call duties when required.
  • A proven ability to prioritise safety and compliance within operational environments.
  • Strong problem-solving skills to address technical challenges swiftly.
  • A relevant trade qualification and a minimum of two years in a technical or maintenance role.
