As our business continues to grow, we're investing in the latest warehouse automation technology to support our expanding global operation. Our new Sherburn Distribution Centre represents the next step in that journey, and we're looking for enthusiastic individuals to help us shape its future.
The Role
As a Warehouse Automation Operative, you'll be joining the founding team of our brand-new automated distribution centre, helping to shape the future of our operation from day one.
Working alongside industry leading automation technology, you'll play a vital role in ensuring customer orders move safely, accurately and efficiently through our warehouse. No two days are the same, you'll combine hands-on warehouse activity with modern technology, working as part of a team that values collaboration, continuous improvement and delivering an outstanding customer experience.
Whether you're receiving goods, supporting our automated storage systems, picking and packing customer orders or helping to keep the operation running smoothly, you'll make a real contribution to the success of the warehouse every day.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Operating and monitoring automated warehouse equipment and systems
- Receiving, checking and processing incoming deliveries
- Decanting products into our automated storage system ready for customer orders
- Supporting the movement of products through our automated storage and retrieval systems
- Picking, packing and preparing orders using the latest warehouse technology
- Using handheld technology, warehouse management systems and digital tools to complete daily tasks
- Identifying opportunities to improve processes and reporting operational issues where appropriate
- Carrying out manual handling activities safely in line with training and procedures
- Maintaining high standards of quality, accuracy, housekeeping and organisation throughout the warehouse
- Working collaboratively across the operation to ensure customers receive their orders on time

Shift Pattern
We are a 7-day operation with service hours between 06:00 and 23:00. This role works on a weekly rotating shift pattern, covering 5 days out of 7 (with days off during the week when weekend shifts are worked).
Early Week (Rotation 1)
- Mostly 08:00 – 16:30 (Mon–Fri)
- Occasional 06:00 – 14:30 starts depending on operational needs
- Saturday: 09:00 – 17:30
Late Week (Rotation 2)
- 14:30 – 23:00 (Mon–Fri)
- Sunday: 09:00 – 17:30
Start times and rotation details will be fully discussed during interview. During our peak times throughout October, November and December there may be a requirement to work additional hours which is paid as overtime.
What We're Looking For
We're looking for people who enjoy working in a fast-paced environment and take pride in doing things the right way. You'll be someone who embraces new technology, enjoys learning and is committed to delivering high standards every day.
You'll ideally have:
- An interest in technology and modern warehouse operations
- A willingness to learn new systems, equipment and ways of working
- The ability to adapt quickly in a changing environment
- A proactive approach to solving problems and improving processes
- Excellent attention to detail and a commitment to quality
- Confidence using computers, handheld devices and digital systems
- Good communication skills and the ability to work effectively as part of a team
- A strong sense of ownership and pride in the quality of your work
- The ability to work safely in a physically active role, including manual handling
- Good literacy, numeracy and basic IT skills

Previous warehouse or logistics experience is beneficial but not essential. If you have the right attitude and a willingness to learn, we'll provide the training and support you need to succeed.
