Warehouse Group Leader
Howdens is looking for a Warehouse Group Leader to join our Runcorn Site in Cheshire. As a FTSE 100 business undergoing an exciting period of growth and transformation, this is a fantastic opportunity to play a key role within our warehouse operation.
About the Role
Reporting to the Shift Manager, you'll lead and motivate a team of operatives to achieve business goals while promoting a strong safety culture and high-performance working environment.
Location: Runcorn
Contract Type: Permanent
Various Shifts Available - Please indicate your preferred shift when applying:
- Morning Shift (Monday–Friday, 06:00–14:00)
- Afternoon Shift (Monday–Friday, 14:00–22:00)
- Night Shift (Sunday–Thursday, 22:00–06:00)
Reporting To: Shift Manager
Responsibilities
What you will be doing as a Warehouse Group Leader:
- Lead, motivate and develop your team, providing exceptional first-line management
- Monitor, evaluate and give feedback on the performance of team members on daily/weekly basis
- Oversee receipt, storage, picking and loading processes in line with daily targets to ensure correct operating procedures and processes are followed
- Identify and report all operational problems and suggest solutions or changes
- Develop and mentor Group Leader Stand-ins to ensure Howdens has a fully enabled, supported and multi-skilled workforce
- Plan and organise adequate resource to ensure effective operation such as daily rotas and holiday planning
- Ensuring all aspects of Health and Safety are followed across site

Qualifications
What do you need to qualify for this role?
- Ideally, you will have at least 2 years' experience in a warehouse leadership role.
- CIEH Level 3 Health and Safety qualification (desirable)
- NVQ Level 2 in Warehousing (desirable)
- Experience using Warehouse Management Systems and Labour Management Systems
- Strong problem-solving skills
- Excellent communication and listening skills
