The Opportunity
We are supporting a global technology and communications organisation operating across the maritime, defence, government, and satellite communications sectors in appointing an experienced Warehouse & Logistics Operative.
This is a hands-on warehouse and logistics position combining physical warehouse operations, inventory control, goods inwards and outwards, shipping documentation, hazardous goods handling and administrative responsibilities.
The successful candidate will play an important role in maintaining accurate stock records, supporting the efficient operation of the warehouse, and ensuring that equipment and materials are received, stored, controlled, and dispatched safely and accurately.
The position requires a minimum of five years' warehouse experience, strong attention to detail and previous experience operating a counterbalance forklift truck.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain efficient Goods Inwards and Goods Outwards processes.
- Receive, inspect, record, store and issue materials and equipment.
- Process and maintain accurate shipping and warehouse documentation, including packing lists, dispatch notes, pro-forma invoices and advice notes.
- Maintain accurate records for serial-number-tracked equipment and update internal databases and warranty records.
- Perform regular cycle counts and support annual stocktaking activities.
- Maintain accurate inventory records within the company’s ERP system.
- Support the control and administration of Government Furnished Equipment (GFE), ensuring accurate records and documentation are maintained for audit purposes.
- Work closely with internal teams to ensure non-conforming and faulty goods are processed correctly.
- Pack equipment and goods for domestic dispatch and international airfreight, ensuring items arrive safely and in optimum condition.
- Handle and pack hazardous goods, including lithium batteries, in accordance with relevant procedures and transportation requirements.
- Maintain the standards and procedures required under the company’s Known Consignor status.
- Operate a counterbalance forklift truck for unloading deliveries, warehouse replenishment and other warehouse activities.
- Operate a MEWP / scissor lift when required.
- Manage and support the ordering of warehouse consumables, including packaging materials, stationery, PPE and tools.
- Provide support to remote warehouse locations regarding inventory and warehouse process queries.
- Support minor facilities activities, including furniture moves and basic maintenance tasks.
- Assist with company post duties when required.
- Maintain a clean, organised and safe warehouse environment.
- Ensure compliance with company Health & Safety procedures and warehouse working practices.
- Act as a point of escalation within the warehouse when required.
- Support and supervise other warehouse employees in the absence of warehouse management.

Essential Experience & Skills
- Minimum of 5 years' professional warehouse, stores or logistics experience.
- Strong experience with Goods Inwards and Goods Outwards processes.
- Experience managing inventory, stock control and cycle counting.
- Experience working with ERP systems or computerised inventory management systems.
- Good understanding of warehouse and shipping documentation.
- Strong computer literacy, including Microsoft Excel and other database systems.
- High level of accuracy and attention to detail when handling stock and completing administrative tasks.
- Ability to work effectively under pressure and manage competing priorities.
- Physically capable of handling and moving warehouse materials and equipment.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively with colleagues, delivery drivers, contractors and other external stakeholders.
- Ability to work proactively with minimal supervision.
- Valid certificate of proficiency to operate counterbalance forklift trucks.
Highly Desirable Experience
- Experience packing equipment for international airfreight.
- Knowledge of hazardous goods transportation requirements, particularly lithium batteries.
- Previous experience working within a Known Consignor environment.
- Experience handling high-value technical equipment or serial-number-controlled inventory.
- Experience controlling Government Furnished Equipment (GFE) or other auditable customer-owned equipment.
- Experience working within defence, aerospace, maritime, telecommunications, engineering or another regulated technical environment.
- MEWP / scissor lift operating experience.
- Previous experience supervising or supporting junior warehouse employees.

Due to the nature of the organisation’s customers and projects, candidates must:
- Be able to provide a verifiable 5-year employment history.
- Be eligible to obtain and maintain the required Security Clearance.
