Job Description

We now have a great opportunity for a Warehouse Manager based in Milton Keynes. This site sits a part of our chilled network consisting of 7 Multi-User warehouses. We receive and dispatch up to 3,000 pallets per day.

This position will ensure the safe and efficient operation of the warehousing functions, maintain and improve performance levels both in terms of service and financial control. You will have overall responsibility for leading, motivating and engaging a team of 170 warehouse staff through a team of Shift Managers and Team Leaders.

Working hours: Monday to Friday, 40 hour week.

Key Duties of a Warehouse Manager:

  • Leading, motivating and engaging Warehouse Operatives through a team of Shift Managers and Team Leaders.
  • Effectively deploying a complex set of resources to flow daily peaks to a demanding timetable.
  • Efficiently and timely deploying resources to match service levels within an agreed budget.
  • Managing Health and Safety within the warehouse.
  • Agreeing a set of continuous improvement projects and managing their implementation.
  • Managing and maintaining site facilities.
  • Timely recruiting and selecting agency and permanent operatives.
  • Managing the process for ensuring compliance on key internal and external audits.
  • Keep budget control of staff costs, by department, including agency costs and requirements.
  • Touring the warehouse each day / night with shift manager, reporting cleanliness and tidiness.
  • Liaise with shift managers, MHE Trainers and Compliance Manager re training requirements.
  • Management and monitoring of temperature control in refrigerated warehouses.
  • Implementing a culture of constant improvement.
  • To ensure the compliance to site food safely, legality, quality and associated systems.

Qualifications

  • Operational management experience within a FMCG warehouse environment.
  • People management experience, the ability to lead and motivate a team.
  • Succession planning.
  • A broad understanding of Continuous Improvement methodologies.
  • An understanding of engagement and motivational tools and techniques.
  • Experience in reviewing and driving KPI targets.
  • Budget and productivity management.
  • Knowledge of working to Health & Safety standards.
  • Drive improvement to Health and Safety culture.
  • Has the ability to work with a site management team in order to achieve wider business goals.
  • A highly confident and proactive individual able to represent the Company and customers.
  • Excellent knowledge of MS Office – Word, Excel, Powerpoint.
