Warehouse Manager - Newhouse

Salary: £60,000 to £75,000 plus great benefits (Work Level 5) Location: Newhouse Depot, Motherwell, ML1 5GH Working hours: 5 days over 7 (including occasional weekend on-call rota, typically 1 in 3 weekends)


About the Role

We're looking for a Warehouse Manager to join our team at the Newhouse depot. You’ll lead and inspire over 500 colleagues, ensuring our "colleagues-first" approach is consistently delivered across the depot. This role involves supporting three Warehouse Shift Managers while maintaining a safe and efficient operation.

This position is part of our wider Logistics Leadership team, where you’ll collaborate with other depots to shape our future direction. Ideal for someone passionate about fostering an inclusive culture where colleagues feel heard, valued, and respected.


Responsibilities

  • Lead, coach, and manage over 500 depot colleagues to ensure efficient service delivery to our food stores
  • Implement and uphold health and safety measures across the depot, addressing risks proactively
  • Hold accountability for the Newhouse warehouse operation, including people, safety, compliance, and equipment
  • Manage an operational budget of up to £30 million and meet established depot targets
  • Build and maintain positive relationships with internal and external partners, including suppliers and trade unions (USDAW)

Requirements

We aim to make roles as accessible as possible, so we only require the following:

  • Proven experience in leading, developing, and managing large teams within a logistics environment
  • Experience in leading and implementing change within a unionised environment
  • Experience in budget management and working towards set performance targets
  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills, with the ability to influence and challenge inclusively
  • A solid understanding of employment and safety legislations
