Warehouse Operative – Deeside Laboratory
Overview
We’re seeking an enthusiastic Warehouse Operative to join our Deeside laboratory—the largest analytical chemistry laboratory in the Element Group and the UK’s leading testing facility for soils, water, waste, oils, ambient air, soil vapours, and gases from around the world. The laboratory delivers high-volume routine analysis alongside bespoke method development, technical support, and hydrocarbon forensic interpretations to ensure excellence in service delivery.
Answering to higher technical demands, data quality reliability, and seamless project management, we uphold uncompromising standards—from sample collection to timely and accurate data delivery.
This role requires a full, clean UK driving licence with a valid forklift (counterbalance) licence being essential.
Key Responsibilities
Your duties will include, but are not limited to:

Incoming Shipments & Verification
- Receive pallets/apron loads of laboratory consumables, chemicals, and equipment in accordance with due diligence checks
- Report any damaged, inaccurate, or tardy shipments to the Designated Area Manager and/or the Logistics Team without delay

Documentation & Reconciliation
- Inspect, verify, and sign off delivery notes against sales orders to ensure accuracy and quality criteria align with internal/external laboratory standards
- Maintain meticulous warehouse stock records, including SOP protocols and quality rejections/re-makes where applicable

Order Fulfilment & Distribution
- Proactively fulfil high-volume ad hoc requests via pickup/drop-off direct to Laboratory Users or under fixed schedule-sent street-user pickups
- Process unscheduled requests, following prioritisation guidance and REI documentation for high-turnover and high-risk consumables in alignment with technical specifications

Technical & Safety Compliance
- Work closely with Technical staff to oversee accurate storage of chemicals and consumables (including Special Hazard Labels and bund requirements)
- Complete mandatory stored chemicals inspections with registered facility managers via the Chemical Inventory/Warehouse Tracking System
- Staple all returned non-conforming equipment/case displays to assigned Quality Reject Sheet and ensure physical stock is maintained in separate access-controlled area

Warehouse Management
- Conduct safe disposal by pre-authorised route of unwanted items, maintained in secured storage containers in accordance with WAUSOPs (visit this link for WAUSOP-logistics guidance)
- Take ownership for coolbox washing cycle and sanitation hours Programme as per CQRS Compliance Bureau mandates
- Ensure dimensional accuracy of all pallets before dispatch (e.g. Elements Medicine Supply Consistency)

Safety & Workplace Standards
- Adhere strictly to all laboratory safety protocols, including Chemical Handling, PPE, Permit-to-Work, and Hazard/Operational PPE compliance
- Uphold decontamination and waste disposal procedures, avoiding cross-contamination, always reporting unsafe practices to management
