Warehouse Operative – Walkers Site (SRDC Leicestershire)

Position Summary

PepsiCo is hiring for a Warehouse Operative role at our Walkers Snacks Distribution site in Leicester.

About the Role

The Warehouse Operative plays a critical role in ensuring smooth, accurate, and efficient operations within our distribution centre. As an Advanced Skilled member of the team, you’ll be responsible for responsibilities beyond standard warehouse duties, including training colleagues and liaising with Key Performance Indicator (KPI) targets.

Key Responsibilities

Standard Warehouse Operations

  • Accurate picking, loading, and tipping of goods for customer orders using Ride-On Pallet Trucks (RDTs) and Mini-Movers.
  • Supporting Adhoc warehouse movements as necessary.
  • Conducting accurate stock counts, processing returns/low-code inventory, and resolving stock discrepancies.
  • Maintaining stock accuracy, timely variance resolution, and proactive issue identification/resolution.
  • Ensuring high standards of customer service by meeting/exceeding KPIs for:
    • Failure rates
    • Volume fill accuracy
    • Dispatch timeliness

Safety & Quality Compliance

  • Active participation in safety initiatives, safety tours, and hazard resolution processes.
  • Meeting health & safety accountabilities, including adhering to strict housekeeping standards.
  • Enhancing BRC (British Retail Consortium) compliance through personal accountability, contributing to BRC audits, and resolving non-compliances.
  • Supporting Lean warehouse operations for continuous improvement.

Skills & Specialised Duties (For Advanced Skilled Operatives)

  • Performing special pick tasks with precision.
  • Operating a Forklift Truck for various warehouse activities.
  • Assisting in all Goods In areas, including specialised "Green Goods In" processes.
  • Undertaking Orange Badge tasks (assigned duties beyond standard responsibilities).
  • Covering for Warehouse Operations Support roles (e.g. Warehouse Tech, Yard Management) as required.
  • Support shunting operations (main premium rate forShift Supervisors), assuming responsibility for shifting pallets as handovers.
  • Training new/existing staff on all safety, operational, and compliance processes within the warehouse.

Requirements

  • A positive attitude and passion for logistics/growth within a dynamic environment.
  • UK driving licence (essential for future relocation/transpor-related activities).
  • Strong decision-making ability and analytical skills, especially under pressure.
  • Self-motivation & reliability, capable of adapting to changing demands.
  • Minimal supervision required—able to work independently and meet deadlines.
  • Exceptional detail orientation, capable of managing complex processes with accuracy.
  • Basic/intermediate PC skills are advantageous.
  • Flexibility & resilience, able to maintain performance in long, rotating shifts.
  • Ideally, future potential to progress within a logistics or warehouse management path.
