Duties and Responsibilities
You will be based in our Grantham warehouse under the supervision of the Logistics Manager, working alongside an expanding team of Stand Builders & Joiners.
- To be successful in this role you must be practically minded, driven and have a genuine interest in the smooth running of the department.
- During our busier periods, the ability to work under pressure and to very tight deadlines is critical.
- You must be a team player, encouraging your teammates and helping the team reach the common goal.
- In ‘quieter’ periods, we expect you to seek out tasks that drive value over activity.
- You will have a ‘whatever it takes’ attitude, able to comfortably engage with other members of the business and use your initiative to solve problems that inevitably arise.
Example tasks include:
- Loading and unloading from our fleet of vehicles
- Picking items
- Cleaning and packing away jobs following their return
- The general cleanliness and upkeep of the warehouse as a whole
Qualifications and Requirements
- Minimum 1-year experience in a manual based role is desirable but not essential
- Forklift truck operating licence is desirable but not essential
- You are reliable: it is important to carry out what you promised and/or was asked to complete
- You are a good communicator: you are active within the group, listen carefully and respectfully speak up to either show your support or to challenge the thinking
- You are flexible: you won’t fight change but instead see it as an opportunity for growth and help others do the same
- Capable: the job is an active role so compliment the manual handling tasks
Apprenticeships
Apprenticeships include time away from working for specialist training. You’ll study to gain professional knowledge and skills.

Course contents:
- Conduct risk assessments within the working environment.
- Apply safe working practices in line with associated health and safety legislation and company policy.
- Receive products in line with organisational procedures.
- Store and pick products in line with organisational procedures.
- Dispatch products in line with organisational procedures.
- Decant, pack products in line with organisational procedures.
- Communicate with others verbally, for example internal and external customers, colleagues, and managers.
- Communicate in writing with others, for example internal and external customers, colleagues and managers.
- Load and unload products, considering the product that is to be moved and its current and planned destination.
- Use tools and equipment to aid in product handling.
- Use information technology and digital systems. Comply with GDPR and cyber security.
- Locate and use operational information, electronic or paper based, required to fulfil contractual requirements.
- Select, prepare, and use packaging materials that reduce waste and mitigate environmental impacts.
- Support under instruction scheduled and unscheduled stock taking activities relevant to the organisation and product.
- Identify and escalate problems beyond own responsibility.
- Follow procedures in line with environmental and sustainability regulations, standards, and guidance. Segregate resources for reuse, recycling and disposal.
- Follow equity, diversity and inclusion rules.
- Carry out and record learning and development activities.
- Conduct handover activities.

In addition to gaining practical experience in the role, you will also attain an NVQ Level 2 Customer Service qualification which will help start your career and give you an insight into the businesses processes and procedures.
Our training is all completed both face to face, and remotely via teams with a development coach who will be available for support and will arrange weekly/fortnightly meetings with you. You receive 20% off-the-job training during this apprenticeship which is included in your weekly working hours.
Essential Qualifications
- GCSE in:
- English and maths (grade 3)

You must have good physical fitness, as this role will require you to lift heavy items
