Warehouse Operative – Packaged & Fresh Distribution Centre

About the Role

This is a hands-on, dynamic job for enthusiastic individuals who enjoy tackling challenges as part of a team, staying active, and seeing their work make a visible difference. No prior warehouse experience is required—we’ll provide full training.

Here’s what a day might look like at our:

  • Packaged Distribution Centre
  • Fresh Distribution Centre

Responsibilities

  • Supporting store colleagues by ensuring orders are assembled accurately
  • Picking and manually handling stock
  • Maintaining a clean, organised warehouse and promptly addressing safety hazards
  • Ensuring stock is received, stored, packed, and transported to the highest standards
  • Taking full responsibility for personal and team safety on the job
  • Using provided tools and training materials efficiently
  • Operating Mechanical Handling Equipment (MHE) effectively
  • Working both independently and as part of a cohesive team

Age requirements: This role covers working between 6:15–9:45 AM and 6:15 AM–9:45 PM, so candidates must be at least 18 years old. Tesco also adheres to local school-leaver guidelines.

Work Details

  • Location: Thurrock, RM19 1ND
  • Transport: Own transport required
  • Shift pattern: Rotating 3 set days (per 4-week cycle):
    • 1st week (rotating): 06:00–14:00
    • 2nd week (rotating): 14:00–22:00
    • Fixed pattern: Thursday, Friday, Saturday (fast-paced schedule)
  • Hourly rate: £16.89/hour
    • Bonus benefits: Overtime and seasonal premiums available

Note: Warehouse experience and MHE skills are helpful but not essential—full training provided.
