Warehouse Operative

Reports to: Warehouse Supervisor

Depot: LWC North East


About the Role

Reporting directly to the Warehouse Supervisor, Warehouse & Distribution Manager, and Depot Manager, the Warehouse Operative will assist with the day-to-day operations of the warehouse, maintain its upkeep, organise bin bay locations, and ensure proper storage and handling of all products. This physically demanding and manual-handling-intensive role requires significant operational flexibility.


Main Duties

  • Coordinate tasks to support warehouse operations, ensuring smooth daily functioning.
  • Maintain and organise the warehouse, including bin bay allocation.
  • Guarantee correct storage of all products in the assigned locations.
  • Perform manual handling duties as a key part of the role.

Key Responsibilities

  • Follow strict warehouse best practices to maintain efficiency and quality.
  • Correctly pick orders and place them in designated delivery locations.
  • Monitor stock levels proactively; report potential shortages to the Warehouse Supervisor or Managers promptly for reordering.
  • Prioritise the palettising of new stock upon delivery, ensuring the correct bin-bay placement matched with supply notes.
  • Assist in monthly stock takes during weekend shifts.
  • Support weekly stock audits to maintain accuracy.
  • Compile and update records, including:
    • Out-of-date stock list
    • Damaged stock write-off sheets
    • Forklift and pedestrian truck maintenance records
  • Adhere to all health and safety policies strictly.
  • Wear required PPE (safety boots, gloves, high-visibility vests) at all times.
  • Demonstrate the ability to prioritise workloads efficiently.
  • Maintain a flexible approach to adapt to operational demand.
  • Assist warehouse drivers as a second man/drivers mate when required.

  • Work Schedule: Rotating shifts with a likely weekend rota available.
  • Hours: 45 hours per week.
