Warehouse Operative / PDI Technician - Southampton
We're looking for a motivated and reliable Warehouse Operative / PDI Technician to join our Southampton operation.
This is a varied, hands-on role combining warehouse duties with the inspection, testing and preparation of industrial cleaning equipment before it is delivered to customers. If you enjoy working with machinery, have strong attention to detail, and like being part of a busy warehouse environment, we'd love to hear from you.
What You’ll Be Doing
Warehouse Operations
- Ensure all deliveries are accurately booked into and out of warehouse stock.
- Support the booking-in of incoming deliveries and stock.
- Process engineer returns and sales orders daily.
- Pick, pack and dispatch parts and sales orders to engineers and customers.
- Arrange courier shipments and outbound post.
- Process delivery notes, parts requests and sales orders accurately.
- Maintain accurate stock records and update company systems in real time.
- Participate in regular stock counts and stock-taking activities.
- Assist with loading and unloading vehicles when required.
- Maintain a clean, safe and organised warehouse and yard environment.
- Support with opening and securing the site when required.
- Report key operational statistics and performance information to management.
PDI & Equipment Preparation
- Conduct pre-delivery inspections (PDI) on industrial cleaning equipment.
- Test machines to ensure all mechanical, electrical and operational functions meet required standards.
- Inspect equipment for damage, defects or faults and carry out minor adjustments where appropriate.
- Ensure all safety features, controls and settings are functioning correctly.
- Clean and prepare equipment to a high standard before customer delivery.
- Check that all accessories and attachments are present and in good condition.
- Complete inspection reports, testing records and repair documentation accurately.
- Monitor and manage spare parts, accessories and consumables used during inspections and repairs.
- Ensure all work is carried out in accordance with health and safety requirements and manufacturer guidelines.

What We’re Looking For
- Previous warehouse, stores, logistics, engineering or technical experience.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
- Good IT skills and experience using stock management or business systems.
- Ability to work independently and manage workload effectively.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills.
- A proactive, hands-on approach to work.
- Forklift Truck (FLT) licence and experience operating warehouse equipment.
Desirable
- Experience carrying out inspections, testing or maintenance on machinery or equipment.
- Mechanical or electrical maintenance experience.
- Knowledge of industrial cleaning equipment or similar machinery.
- Experience within a service, engineering or technical warehouse environment.
