Warehouse Operative (Warehouse Team Leader)
Location: HM Prison Drake Hall, ST21 6LQ
Contract Type: Permanent (Full-Time)
Shift: Monday to Friday Working Hours
Salary: £27,496.46 per annum
Important Notes:
⚠️ This role is based within a Female Prison Population Site. An Enhanced Security Vetting Process is required prior to appointment.
🎓 A valid UK driving licence and access to your own vehicle are essential for this position (*).
About the Role
HMPPS enables prisoners to access goods via their funds. DHL oversees the management of picking, packing and distribution of these orders. Your role will ensure smooth operations, directly aiding rehabilitation initiatives for inmates.
No two days here are the same—you’ll work alongside a diverse team, playing an integral part in offenders’ lives.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead a group of prisoners in a highly structured warehouse environment while also engaging in hands-on picking, packing, and inventory management
- Maintain accurate stock reconciliation across the onsite prison warehouse
- Oversee the dispatch and fulfilment of inmate orders, ensuring accuracy and timelines
- Strive to exceed operational targets in a challenging but rewarding setting

Requirements
- Ability to work effectively in a prison warehouse setting
- (Desirable) Good knowledge of warehouse processes (elegant but not mandatory)
- Strong communication skills across all levels
- Full UK licence (mandatory for Enhanced Security Vetting requirements)
- Continuous UK address history for 3+ years (strict mandate for ES vetting)
