Warehouse Shift Manager

Are you a proven leader who thrives in a warehouse environment?

Does motivating and developing a team come naturally to you? Do you have a flexible approach to management that allows you to organise and prioritise workload effectively? If yes, we have the opportunity for you!

GXO are looking for a Shift Manager to join us at our B&Q site in Blyth – S81 8PU. You will be responsible for ensuring and driving efficient operational performance on the shift, whilst maintaining strong communications with the senior management team.

These are full time, permanent positions, working a 4 on 4 off rotating shift pattern of 07:00 to 17:00 and 13:00 to 23:00.

Pay, benefits and more:

  • You’ll be paid a salary of up to £34,500 per annum, depending upon experience.
  • You’ll also receive 26 days annual leave (inclusive of bank holidays).

What you’ll do on a typical day:

  • Take full operational responsibility for the day to day running of the warehouse on your shift (through FLM’s and Team Leaders), you’ll lead, motivate and develop your team to achieve challenging targets.
  • Create and maintain a positive team culture, by actively encouraging involvement from all, to improve employee engagement.
  • Identify cost saving initiatives and implement corrective actions where appropriate to maximise the efficiency of the warehouse operation.
  • With a good understanding of Health & Safety, you’ll strive to make sure all operational processes are fully compliant with our policies, while accurately identifying risks and escalating your findings.

What you need to succeed at GXO:

  • Previous experience at a minimum of First Line Manager level, within a large, fast-paced warehousing environment.
  • Experience managing conflicting priorities, with the ability to plan and organise a warehouse operation.
  • Excellent people skills - the ability to effectively lead, develop and manage a team, whilst identifying areas for development and recognising success.
