Shift Manager

As a Shift Manager, you’ll play a vital role in the smooth running of our cold store operations, ensuring that our stock moves efficiently and safely. You’ll be responsible for leading a team, managing resources, and delivering on performance targets.

Shift available: Sunday - Thursday, 22:00-6:00

Salary: Competitive + Shift allowance

Key Responsibilities:

  • Team Leadership & Engagement – Lead and motivate a team of operatives, creating a culture of accountability, teamwork, and high performance.
  • Days and Evenings Operations Management – Oversee end-to-end day and night operations including cross-docking, stock flow, and warehouse coordination.
  • Planning & Resource Allocation – Develop shift plans and assign duties to ensure timely and effective completion of tasks.
  • Performance Monitoring – Use the Warehouse Management System (WMS) to track inventory accuracy and identify discrepancies before they become issues.
  • Health, Safety & Compliance – Maintain the highest standards of cleanliness and safety. Lead accident investigations and ensure all procedures are followed.
  • Operational Reporting – Maintain accurate shift reports and provide regular feedback to site leadership.
  • Cross-Shift Collaboration – Ensure smooth shift handovers and consistent performance across the 24-hour operation.
  • Employee Development – Conduct regular reviews and coach your team to support growth and development.

What We’re Looking For:

  • Proven experience in warehouse or cold store operations, ideally with supervisory or shift management responsibilities.
  • Strong understanding of warehouse safety, stock control, and team leadership.
  • Proficient with Warehouse Management Systems (WMS).
  • Clear communicator with the ability to engage and align teams.
  • Calm under pressure, with a solution-focused mindset.
  • Comfortable working in a cold store environment (approx. -20°C – PPE provided).
  • A proactive approach to problem solving and continuous improvement.
  • MHE licence is desirable but not essential.
