Warehouse Shift Manager – Gist (Faversham)

We have an exciting opportunity for a talented individual to join our team in Faversham as a Warehouse Shift Manager, working any 4 days from 7, on a 10-hour shift, starting at either 6.00am or 8.00am.
You will:
- Ensure the successful delivery of day-to-day warehouse operations, keeping operations running smoothly.
- Support the Warehouse Operation Managers with various tasks that add value to the operation.
- Guarantee productivity, accuracy, and cost targets are met and exceeded.
- Manage and coordinate warehouse operations at the distribution centre.

Role Details
- Salary: £41,350
- Hours: 38 per week
- Working Hours: Any 4 days from 7, with shifts starting at 6.00am or 8.00am
- Location: Faversham, ME13 7TW
Key Responsibilities
As a Warehouse Shift Manager, your role will include:
Operational Leadership
- Drive shift performance through team leaders to achieve KPIs.
- Conduct forward planning for warehouse operations, aligning with live volumes and resource needs.
Health, Safety & Compliance
- Ensure adherence to safety, health, environment, and quality standards—or escalate issues.
- Maintain a safe, friendly working environment for all employees, agency workers, and subcontractors.
People Management
- Oversee recruitment, induction, and support for new colleagues within the warehouse.
- Implementation of team meeting (wellbeing, long-term sickness, return-to-work, and disciplinary procedures).
- Lead shift briefings where required.
- Collaborate with third-party agencies for optimal staffing levels.
Daily Operations & Development
- Lead operational, people, and safety reviews aligned with real-time volumes.
- Identify and address training needs regularly.
- Plan operational and safety meetings.
- Conduct accident root-cause investigations and reporting.
- Carry out hazard observations and management audits.

Performance & Efficiency
- Maintain and optimise performance levels to maximise operational efficiency.
- Monitor account-specific KPIs to meet targets.
What You Bring to the Role
We’re looking for someone with:
- Extensive hands-on experience within a warehouse environment, ideally in FMCG distribution.
- Proven management experience is mandatory.
- A passion for nurturing team collaboration and driving innovation and employee engagement.
- Strong team management skills, particularly in developing Team Leaders.
- An analytical mindset for data-driven decision-making.
- Flexibility to adapt to various shift patterns in the future.
Bonus:
- Prior experience working with trade unions.
