Job Responsibilities/Key Accountabilities

You will be required to work within a small team and operate on a continental shift pattern (which includes working both 12 hour a day, 6am-6pm and nights 6pm-6am). Reporting to the Assistant Operations Manager, you will undertake the following tasks:

  • Taking responsibility for the shift and managing the warehouse operation whilst being an active hands-on member of the team
  • Operating handling equipment, reach, counter balance and narrow aisle order picker fork lift trucks (license required)
  • To manage and lead the warehouse team and organise and delegate work in an effective and efficient manner
  • Point of contact out of hours for other manufacturing sites
  • Motivate your team to achieve the highest levels of productivity.
  • To monitor time and attendance of the team and report on anomalies
  • Provide advice and guidance on issues to members of the warehouse team
  • To identify skills gaps and train employees on best practice techniques.
  • To lead by example and be proactive and encourage others in the pursuit of continuous improvement projects and performance excellence.
  • To complete all necessary administrative tasks (hard and soft) for the warehouse operation
  • The ability to ensure that housekeeping standards are being maintained and ensure a high standard of Health & Safety across the warehouse.
  • To organise and take responsibility for operators on shift to ensure tasks are completed effectively on a daily basis
  • Complete daily communications and handover meetings with other Supervisors
  • Assist the management team in any projects or tasks as requested

Essential Knowledge, Skills, Experience

  • Previous experience of leading a team
  • 2 years experience in warehouse and distribution environment
  • Hold a fork-lift truck licence, or prepared to be trained.
  • Methodical with the ability to prioritise workload
  • Clear and concise communicator
  • Ability to remain calm under pressure
  • Problem solving skills

Desirable

  • Be fully conversant with computer packages in operation including Outlook, vision, excel
  • Experience of working a shift system
  • Appropriate Supervisor qualification (e.g. NVQ Level 2)
