Job Description

We are looking for a responsible and hardworking Waste Collection Operator to join our sanitation team. This role is crucial in maintaining cleanliness and hygiene in public and residential areas by collecting and disposing of waste safely and efficiently. The ideal candidate should be physically fit, detail-oriented, and committed to keeping the community clean and environmentally friendly.

Key Responsibilities

  • Operate and assist in the collection of waste and recyclables from residential, commercial, and public areas.
  • Load and unload waste into collection vehicles, ensuring proper handling and disposal.
  • Follow established routes and schedules for waste collection.
  • Maintain cleanliness and safety of waste collection vehicles and equipment.
  • Report issues such as damaged bins, hazardous waste, or blocked collection areas to supervisors.
  • Adhere to safety protocols and environmental regulations while handling waste materials.
  • Assist in emergency cleanup operations following severe weather conditions or special events.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent (preferred but not required).
  • Previous experience in waste collection, sanitation, or a related field is a plus.
  • Ability to perform physically demanding tasks, including lifting heavy objects and working in various weather conditions.
  • Knowledge of waste disposal regulations and safety procedures.
  • Strong teamwork and communication skills.
  • Ability to follow instructions and work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
  • Valid driver’s license (preferred for operating waste collection vehicles).
