Would you like to work in a fast-growing and dynamic service? Waste Management provides a weekly recycling and waste collection service to households in the city of Leicester in partnership with Biffa Leicester. We have a Trade Waste Facility at our Gypsum Close site, which is a service for small and medium-sized companies to bring their waste to site and dispose of it within the current regulations.
Join us and you'll have the opportunity to develop knowledge of the waste services we provide. You'll be a valued member of our small team and contribute to maintaining our excellent customer service provided to users and members of the public.
This is a full-time position working 37 hours per week, covering Monday to Friday between 7:45 and 17:15. You'll be based at our Gypsum Close Trade Waste facility however may be required to work from other sites across the city.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Responsible for the day-to-day acceptance of waste, taking payments from customers and daily operations of the council's weighbridge and trade waste facility.
- Carry out administrative duties that support the wider waste services team.
- This includes managing resident bookings of clinical waste collections, administering the vehicle permit scheme, assessing resident requests for bins, and administration of the garden waste scheme.
- Undertake financial admin and support the wider team including interpreting/analysing data and maintaining databases and records.

What You’ll Need
- Strong customer service skills with experience of taking/handling cash payments.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to liaise with customers effectively whilst handling payments and when resolving and responding to a variety of enquiries.
- Strong organisational skills, able to work under pressure and in a fast-paced environment.
- Proficient IT skills to carry out general administrative tasks, interpreting/analysing data and maintain databases accurately.
